Pinnacle

right in the heart again
of the golden mile
standin’ at the edge
of the pinnacle pit
at the end of the day
gotta rest a while

tools of trade displayed
beneath my feet in bits
digger heads discarded
beside the rubble piles,
apparent random circuits
pointing puncture tips
outta which iron twists
to the top of the sky

what’s underneath the ground
in this part of the town
is properly astounding,
the founding of a property
fit to sit in history which
the world will come to see
